576 programs. 1,470 sites.

Filter by the company behind a program, the ages it reaches, where it happens, what it actually does, and who carries it into the classroom. Click a state to narrow to it. The map and the list below move together.

What the map cannot show

Only 300 of 576 programs name a place we can put on a map. A national lesson-plan pack reaches far more children than a single site visit and leaves no dot at all. The list below carries all 576.

Every row links to the evidence behind it, or says why it cannot.

Data disclaimer and methodology

This database records programs, sponsorships, competitions and teaching materials run or funded by fossil fuel companies and their industry bodies that reach Australian children. A record is included only where a published source describes it, and every claim carries its source and an evidence grade.

Important limitations. This is a record of documented activity at particular points in time, and may not reflect what is running now. Named places are a floor and not a count: a place appears because a document named it, so programs that publish a list of places look larger than programs that publish none. Absence of a record is not absence of activity.

Data accuracy. We check what we publish and we still get things wrong. Users should verify independently before drawing conclusions. Where we could not establish something we say so rather than estimating.

What a record means. An entry describes where a program reached children. It does not imply that the school, club or venue did anything improper, and no child is named anywhere in this database.

A sentence is plenty. What they did, who it reached, and roughly when.

The newsletter, post or page you saw it on. Without one we usually cannot publish a record, so this is the most useful thing you can give us.

Copy and paste it rather than summarising. We publish quotes, not paraphrases.

Optional, and never published.
